Alphabets are more than a tool for writing, they weave together our shared stories and understanding, serve as a system of verbal communication in a language, guiding us through the world for generations. Toys quietly preserve fragments of our personal histories and archiving our past experiences.
This type design project transforms my collection of objects into a material archive. Utilizing the playful objects, such as beads, branded toys and figurines, photographed their shapes from different angles and reconstructed them into 26 alphabet type design. By combining these shapes in unexpected ways, inventing a new visual language system to break the rules of readability playfully, questioning what it means to read. The type design captures the shapes of the collectible objects and transform them into different abstract letterforms, using objects as a digital collage material to create new ways of playing.
